Mrs. Betty Fister of Dahlonega and formerly of
Wadsworth, Ohio, died Sunday, May 14, 2006, at her residence following a sudden
illness. She was 71.
Betty was born in Dawson County and graduated from Gainesville High School. She
had a 30-year career as a sales agent in real estate.
She was a member of the
Dahlonega Woman's Club, the Red Hat Society, and the Women's Guild of St. Luke's
Church.
She was the daughter of Joseph Herman Gilbreath and Lori Trammell Gilbreath, both
now deceased, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Dobbs and a
brother, Glenn Gilbreath.
Mrs. Fister is survived by her husband of 51 years, Fred Fister, Dahlonega;
daughters, Beth Marchand, Atlanta, Susan Snyder, Akron, Ohio; sons and
daughter-in-law, Fred Fister Jr., Joseph Fister, both of Dahlonega, Christopher
Fister, Cleveland, Mathew and Lou Fister, Wadsworth, Ohio; sister, Louise Free,
Cleveland; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a large number of other
relatives.
A funeral mass for Mrs. Fister is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at St.
Luke's Catholic Church in Dahlonega with Monsignor Stephen Churchwell
officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests that donations be sent to United Way for Lumpkin County, P.O. Box 1207,
Dahlonega, Ga.30533.
